The association of Sales And Marketing Professionals in Science (SAMPS) is the first organization for life science commercial professionals (sales, marketing, business development, client services, commercial operations and technical support) dedicated to selling and marketing to organizations (academic, government and commercial) that perform research, discovery, development, and manufacturing of pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, medical device, and diagnostic products and therapies.
The purpose of SAMPS is to serve its members, who are among the more than 60,000 people globally who work in commercial roles for life science products and services companies, by helping them develop, grow, and find success through the sharing of our collective knowledge and experience. Those companies include contract research and contract manufacturing organizations (CROs & CMOs), scientific equipment manufacturers, reagents manufacturers, and consultancies. The association provides a dynamic forum for the exchange of knowledge through ongoing education, information resources, and opportunities for networking and professional development for life science commercial professionals.
Member Roles: SAMPS members are professionals who work in the disciplines of sales, sales management, business development, alliance management, strategic partnering, commercial operations, marketing management, product management, market research, client services, proposal development, applications support, and technical support. These disciplines are collectively referred to as commercial disciplines.
Member Organizations: Members work for service providers, product providers, and software providers. Often companies offer a combination of services, products, and software, and throughout a member’s career, the member may work for companies that sell services, products, and software. Service providers include Contract Research Organizations, Contract Laboratories, Clinical Trial Supply Companies, Contract Manufacturing Organizations, and consulting companies. Product providers offer instrumentation and reagents for R&D and manufacturing. Software providers offer software to control laboratory instrumentation, manage processes like compliance or inventory, manage manufacturing equipment, and a variety of other solutions.
Sell To Organizations: Members and their companies, sell and market their products and services to pharmaceutical companies, biopharmaceutical companies, medical device & diagnostic companies, academic institutions, non-profit organizations, and government agencies.
Sell to Employees: Members and their companies, sell their products and services to employees in Research & Development and Manufacturing departments, including sourcing and procurement professionals. For instance, they sell to Molecular Biologists, Protein Chemists, Toxicologists, Medical Technologists, Medical Doctors, Engineers, Clinical Researchers, Quality Assurance Professionals, etc. Titles of the employees they sell to include Managers, Directors, and VPs of Drug Discovery, Drug Development, Safety Assessment, Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Genomics, Proteomics, R&D, Research, Development, Manufacturing, Bioprocessing, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, etc.
